Baby Ledford!

Here is baby's first picture! It's not the greatest quality, but it's in the top left corner. Having the ultrasound today was wonderful. Words can't describe it. I could have listened to the heartbeat all day! It was 160 bpm. Some people are already betting it's a girl, so I would love to hear your feedback on that! Due date is May 10th! Please see below post too, I started posting a journal and more details on the pregnancy. Wes was a trooper - we were at the doctor for two hours and he didn't flinch, through the ultrasounds, pap smears, blood work, etc. He is going to be a great Dad!!

Not "Just Us" Anymore!!

Yep, it's true!! Baby will make 4!! I am counting Brandy of course ( :
I have been keeping a little journal that I haven't posted before now, but you can read below. I will post the first ultrasound picture tonight!

Week 5
Thursday, September 6 - Well, I am not going to post this just yet, but I at least wanted to write it all down so I wouldn't forget. I am going to try to do a post each week about my pregnancy, because I have enjoyed my friends postings and blogs so much! So this is week 5. It's official. I went to the doctor Tuesday and they confirmed. We are pregnant, and could not be happier! We were in absolute shock at first, but it's been a couple days and it seems like it is starting to sink in.

I took the test above the Friday before Labor Day weekend. I wasn't even late yet, but we were going camping for three days so I had to know. Wes had left Thursday night to help set up camp, so he was completely out of cell range. I took the test about 30 minutes before my friend Dawn was due to come pick me up. When I took it, I didn't pay much attention, then saw the second line begin to come up. I sat there and stared at the test for about 5 minutes, reading the directions again. I could NOT believe it was actually saying I was pregnant. So when Dawn came over, I had to have her come and look at it. The second line was a little lighter, so I wasn't sure. She of course knew right away and started jumping up and down and crying. I was in such shock I don't really remember much after that! So when we got up to camp, it was late because there was so much traffic. Right away the guys asked us where we had been, and I said "Well, a pregnant girl has to stop and pee a lot". Wes just looked at me in disbelief. Needless to say he was ecstatic.

I am feeling great so far, but it's still early! I have these small stomach pains every now and then, and of course get a little paranoid, but everyone says it's normal. I have also just found out that two of my friends are right there with me - Laura is 3 months and Elisa is 2 months. So this will be a fun journey to be on together. Not to mention my dear friend Rachel, who is pregnant with her second right now! I can't seem to think about anything else, and I have almost 3 weeks until my next dr. appt! That will be the ultrasound and probably the day it really sinks in!! I will keep posting each week until then!

Week 6

Monday, September 10 Well, tomorrow will be one week from when I went to the doctor to confirm I was pregnant! So far so good. I don't have fatigue or morning sickness just yet. Something weird - I just realized my sweet tooth is gone! For those of you who know me, I HAVE to have something sweet after every meal almost, and that craving just hasn't been there. I do seem to be eating and peeing a litte more than usual, and I can take a nap at anytime, but I am not incredibly tired. We have been telling more and more people, but I will still wait til the ultrasound to post my journal! So two weeks from tomorrow we will hopefully get the reassurance we have been waiting for! Until next week....

Week 7

Wednesday, September 19 Well, I can't tell you how much I am dying to start posting about the pregnancy, but until we hear the heartbeat, I just can't bring myself to do it. But only a few more days!! Today was a landmark day. I actually experienced my first bout of morning sickness. No actual, well, you know, but I certainly felt like it all morning and I have had a headache all day. I called the nurse and she told me I could take Tylenol, which relieved it some. I learned that having a salad and two cupcakes for dinner is just not enough for me and baby - yep, that's what I ate last night. And I went to bed hungry, which was bad news this morning. So I went to the store this afternoon and bought several packs of peanut butter crackers to keep on hand. Although I felt like death this morning, I am thankful to be feeling pregnant somewhat. When I told the nurse what I was experiencing, she said it sounded like my hormones were surging. Yes, that is what I like to hear!

Babies on the way and Football!!

Now that summer is pretty much over, we are on to football (me-Florida Gators, Wes-Georgia Bulldogs). We are pretty die hard SEC football fans altogether, so this will be what we do on most Saturdays for the next couple months! But in addition to the football frenzy going on, I wanted to say congratulations to our dear friends Laura and Stephen Hollamon, who are expecting their first child! Laura is 3 months pregnant, and we are very excited for them. Once she sends me some belly pics I will post. Congrats Laura and Stephen!

And back to football, Florida faces Tennessee today in the swamp - game time 3:30 e.s.t and Georgia will play WCU. I would say my gators will be the one to watch out of those two, because Georgia should have an easy win! Bye for now - Hope everyone is doing great.....

Labor Day Camping Trip!

And we're back! We went up to Mirror Lake for the weekend w/ the Opies, the Harwell's, and the Shaw's. It was fun, but wet. Thank goodness for the Opies camper that we could retreat to, and also for the rain fly on our tent that actually worked! It was a nice break from the heat, only getting into the 70s during the day. Here are some pics...

Are you afraid of the BULL????

OK, that's an old joke from WCU. See there was this Pike nicknamed Bull, and he had a crush on one of my friends, Joy Hinson (Shanna knows Joy, she was a teaching fellow). So anyways, Joy didn't like him, and when she told him that he asked her if she was afraid of the bull! So we used to say that all the time. Well, let me tell you that this morning when Wes, Brandy and I were mountain biking I WAS afraid of the bull. There were several cows and bulls on the trails and in the woods surrounding them, and it freaked me out. THEN Brandy was kind of running near one of them, and the BULL charged her!! It scared me to death, of course, but she ran and the bull stopped. We have been on this trail a lot, it's the one right behind our house, but I am usually scared of mountain lions, bears, etc, not cows and bulls! So that was a new experience that I didn't necessarily like. After Brandy got charged, we had to go around the trail a little to avoid them. Oh, and that was AFTER Wes said he was going to throw rocks at them to get them to move, and I said NO!! Granted, he has more experience with cows and bulls (considering he worked on a beef cow farm when he was in high school!) but I didn't like the idea.

AND Miss Brandy rolled in horse and maybe even cow droppings AGAIN, so she got a hose bath outside when we got home. Sorry Shanna, I wanted to try the dog wash but it was easier to do this than get her in the car with poop on her! So this is her, shaking off, then acting smug and mad, after her bath.

AAAHHH, running water....

How we take it for granted!! I went on a women's retreat with our church this past weekend, and there was NO running water, so we were using portopotties, and of course there were no showers. It was an amazing weekend of activities and hanging out with the other women, but I was so happy to be able to take a shower! I didn't take that many pictures because you don't really feel like having your picture taken when you are sweaty and dirty, but here is one of me and my tentmates, Rachel, Lynette, Tracey, and Debbie.

Friday night we did a moonlight hike up the mountain, Saturday morning was paintball and a ropes course, Saturday afternoon was tubing, then Sunday morning was a GPS hunt, which was REALLY fun. I had never played paintball before, and WOW, it was kind of crazy. You really do just run around with a gun trying to hurt other people! But my team won (not with my help because I pretty much just hid behind a tree the whole time and shot at people!).
In other news, Miss Brandy rolled around in something dead this weekend while fishing w/ Wes, so I gave her a second bath last night using vinegar, soap, and baking soda. It seemed to help the odor a little, but yuck!! I swear having a dog has to be SOMEWHAT similar to having kids!!
